Job summary

General Motors in Michigan is seeking an early-career Calibration Engineer to translate engineering requirements into vehicle performance. You’ll calibrate vehicle systems across software, hardware, and controls, with hands-on work in vehicles, labs, and simulation.

You’ll learn from experienced engineers while tuning calibrations, analyzing driving data, and supporting test campaigns. Hybrid work in Milford, MI, aligns with GM’s safety and quality priorities.

Qualifications

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering
  • Must be graduating between Dec 2026 – June 2027
  • Must be able to work in southeast Michigan
  • Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize calibrations to meet performance, diagnostic, timing, and robustness requirements using GM calibration standard work
  • Review calibrations and test results to ensure quality and consistency
  • Plan and coordinate calibration activities with the Lead Calibrator and Diagnostic Strategist
  • Identify tools, equipment, test vehicles, data, and resources for calibration development
  • Diagnose and correct vehicle, system, controls, lab, plant, and customer issues
  • Use analytical tools to develop, evaluate, and verify calibrations
  • Develop, use, and improve calibration procedures
  • Participate in controls working groups and support development of algorithms
  • Translate requirements into test cases for new vehicle features
  • Evaluate engineering changes and their impact on verification testing
  • Peer reviews of test plans considering hardware, software, architecture and portfolio impacts
  • Identify opportunities to automate or virtualize calibration and verification activities
  • Support development vehicle fleets through troubleshooting, testing, and data collection
  • Perform root-cause analysis and document findings in PRTS
  • Participation in development trips and related testing activities
  • Follow safety precautions and requirements
