Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Calibration Engineer to support electrification calibration of Battery Systems on GM vehicles. You will deliver calibrations that ensure feature and diagnostic functionality and robustness, while analyzing large data sets from driving maneuvers in simulation, dyno, and vehicle to tune system response.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 4 years of experience as a Calibration Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or related role.
  • 4 years of experience with Embedded Controls; calibration tools INCA, Vehicle Spy, CRETA, MDA, MATLAB, Simulink; Hardware/Software-in-the-Loop; and vehicle control system integration & debugging.
  • 2 years of experience with electrification propulsion architectures; HV battery systems and controls; AutoVal; and Electric Vehicle OBD.

Job Description

DUTIES: Support electrification calibration of Battery Systems on GM vehicles. Deliver calibrations that ensure feature and diagnostic functionality and robustness. Utilize system hardware and software troubleshooting skills to resolve issues and complete their calibration standard work. Analyze large sets of data collected during various driving maneuvers in simulation, dyno, and vehicle, tune the system response through calibration and identify areas requiring a change in controls. Develop and optimize calibrations to meet performance and timing requirements utilizing Calibration Standard Work. Conduct calibration reviews to ensure high quality calibrations. Organize, plan, and coordinate calibration activities with Lead Calibrator and Diagnostic Strategist. Support identification of requirements for resources to develop calibrations. Diagnose and correct vehicle, system, and controls deficiencies. Support resolution of vehicle, plant, lab, or customer issues. Utilize analytical tools to develop and verify calibrations. Develop, use, and update calibration procedures. Participate in controls groups and support development of algorithms. Participate in development trips and related test activities. Hybrid Work Policy – 3 days In-Office, 2 Days Remote – Must be able to report to local office.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field of study and Four (4) years of experience as a Calibration Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or related role. Four (4) years of experience with the following: Embedded Controls; Tools commonly used in calibration including INCA, Vehicle Spy, CRETA, MDA, Matlab, and Simulink; Hardware and Software-in-the-Loop Systems; and Vehicle Control System Integration and Debugging. Two (2) years of experience with the following: Electrification propulsion system architectures; HV battery systems and controls; AutoVal; and Electric Vehicle On-Board Diagnostics.
