Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Mossville, IL is seeking an engineer to join the Stationary Power Conversion Controls team within E+ES. You will develop and validate real-time control algorithms for inverter and charger controls using Matlab/Simulink to move designs from model to product.

This role focuses on electrification of Caterpillar products, evaluating power conversion systems, and collaborating with peers to deliver robust, scalable solutions for a future-ready power train.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science.
  • Analytical Thinking: root-cause analysis and solution development.
  • Effective Communications to convey results clearly and accurately.
  • Managing Multiple Priorities: juggling several objectives and projects.
  • Technical Excellence: deep knowledge of power systems and control methods.
  • Product Design and Development: from concept through to production.

Responsibilities

  • Model Electrical & Hybrid Power Systems.
  • Simulate grid connection studies for renewables and BESS.
  • Evaluate Controller requirements and develop power-conversion strategies.
  • Evaluate new products, processes, or systems.
  • Communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other units.
  • Contribute to the design of new products and processes.
  • Perform product and process maintenance.
