Job summary

Dominion Energy is seeking an entry-level Electrician to join its nuclear training program. You will inspect, test, and repair electrical circuits under supervision and gain hands-on experience with protective equipment and safety procedures.

This role requires physical ability, lifting up to 50 pounds, and willingness to travel for outages. An opportunity to develop advanced electrical skills at a major energy company is provided.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be physically able and willing to utilize respirators, SCBA bottles, fall protection or other equipment essential to the requirements of maintaining a Nuclear Power Plant including making containment entries.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, tests, troubleshoots and repairs electrical circuits and electronic equipment under supervision.
• Performs standardized duties and tasks using hand tools and testing instruments.
• Isolates defects in wiring, switches and other electrical equipment using testing instruments.
• Replaces faulty switches, sockets and other elements of electrical systems.
• Dismantles electrical machinery and replaces defective parts per diagrams.
• Works under direct supervision following standard procedures.
• Performs work safely and maintains a neat, clean workspace.
• May travel for outages and requires period of on-site duty.

Job Summary

• Inspects, tests, troubleshoots and repairs electrical circuits and electronic equipment under the guidance and direction of an experienced electrician or supervisor.
• Performs standardized duties and tasks using hand tools and testing instruments.
• Isolates defects in wiring, switches, monitors and other electrical equipment using testing instrument such as ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, etc.
• Replaces faulty switches, sockets and other elements of electrical systems
• May dismantle electrical machinery and replace defective parts and related fixtures into position and completes circuits according to diagram specifications.
• Works under direct supervision and follows standard procedures and instructions to accomplish assigned tasks
• Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures
• Respects and works safely around power plant equipment to safeguard personnel and equipment. Maintains a neat, clean shop and work area to enhance the working environment.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned

Individual will be part of the emergency response organization and some travel (for periods of up to a month or more) may be required to support other station outages.

Must obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear access.

Required Qualifications:

• Must have high school diploma
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be physically able and willing to utilize respirators, SCBA bottles, fall protection or other equipment essential to the requirements of maintaining a Nuclear Power Plant including making containment entries.

Preferred Qualifications:

• One year of electrical work in an industrial setting and experience working with basic hand tools
• Electrical trade school or prior military experience
• Nuclear power plant experience

Other Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of AC and DC circuitry as well as equipment grounding requirements.
• Demonstrated use of electrical repair procedures and blueprint circuit understanding.
• Good oral communication skills
• Applies basic skills and works on developing advance skills using tools and equipment
• Ability to resolve routine questions and problems, referring more complex issues to more experienced personnel
• Ability to follow standard written and oral instruction

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014, Section 4.5.7.1 and 4.5.7.2 Education requirements: High school diploma Minimum experience for the position: Related experience 1 yr

This positionis part ofa formal training program whereby the candidate/employee may not meet the full ANSI requirements of years of experience until the formal training program is completed.
