Job summary

Scripps Research in La Jolla, CA is seeking an Electrician to support electrical systems across campus facilities. The role involves installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment and systems, adherence to codes, and collaboration with facilities staff and contractors.

Qualified candidates will have an Electrician Apprenticeship, a high school diploma, and at least four years of related experience. Must lift up to 50 pounds and hold a valid CA driver license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an Electrician Apprenticeship.
• Minimum of 4 years of directly related experience.
• Thorough knowledge of electrical, building and fire codes.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and use hand tools.
• Valid driver license issued from the state where the position is located.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, install, alter, and repair electrical boards, panels and related distribution hardware, motors, motor control centers, transformers, switch gear, wiring, receptacles, lighting, fire alarm systems, dedicated circuits for sensitive equipment and freezers, and power systems drives.
• Test equipment for safety and efficiency; inspect circuits and wiring for shielding and grounding.
• Respond to emergency calls, power failures, overloaded circuits, electrical malfunctions, broken equipment, and other problems.
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications to determine installation or repair requirements.
• Coordinate with facilities personnel, utilities, contractors, and consultants to plan and execute work.
• Estimate labor and materials costs for work requests; order supplies and maintain stock inventory.
• Perform routine work orders and preventative maintenance tasks; record hours spent on tasks.
• Work daily with the CMMS Software.
