Job summary

Westlake Chemical is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team in Canada. You will participate in a team environment and undertake tasks related to electrical and mechanical maintenance, including troubleshooting, DC drives inspection, and reading schematics.

A 12-hour continental shift is required with shift premiums and incentives. Must hold a 433A millwright or 422A electrical certificate with a minimum of 7 years of experience in manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must hold a valid 433A millwright or 422A electrical certificate.
  • Ability to read prints, blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products.
  • Willingness to work 12-hour continental shifts.
  • Knowledge of calipers and other measuring devices.
  • Experience with industrial electrical and electronic control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems as required.
  • Inspect and maintain DC drives and related equipment.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical codes.
  • Use hand and power tools, precision measuring equipment.
  • Maintain conveyors, compressors and pumps.
  • Perform welding and soldering operations.
  • Install and maintain fans, blowers, controls and pneumatic systems.
  • Install and maintain pipes, valves, and related components.
  • Ensure shop equipment is clean and safe.
  • Support preventive maintenance programs and maintain records.
  • Calibrate industrial instrumentation as needed.

Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, this individual will be responsible to participate in a team environment and undertake all tasks associated with Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance.

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 12 HOUR ROTATING CONTINENTAL SHIFTS ******Shift Premium & Additional Incentives offered******

Rate of pay: $50.29/hr with additional $2.00 premium for Dual Certification.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems as required.
  • DC drives inspection and maintenance.
  • Interpret all mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Properly uses all hand and power tools and precision measuring equipment.
  • Maintain conveyor system, all compressors and pumps.
  • Perform welding and soldering operations.
  • Install and maintain all fans, blowers, electric and electronic controls and pneumatic systems.
  • Install and maintain pipe systems and valves.
  • Ensure that all shop equipment is kept clean and in safe working order.
  • “Call in” duty as per schedule.
  • General Maintenance.
  • Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blue prints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
  • Install, examine replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components for continuity, current, voltage resistance.
  • Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.
  • May install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices.
  • Maintain safety and environmental regulations and plant operability as top priorities as maintenance duties take place.
Education, Experience and Qualification

Must hold a valid industrial mechanic/millwright 433A/electrical certificate 422A. Minimum of 7 years’ experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of calipers and other measuring devices. Must have knowledge of computer skills using MS Office products. Ability to read prints. Must be able to work a 12-hour Continental Shift.
