Job summary

ADM is seeking an Electrician & Maintenance Mechanic in Mendota, IL to support electrical troubleshooting, instrumentation, and mechanical maintenance at a 30,000 cwt/day wheat flour mill. You will work a Monday–Friday shift with occasional call-in coverage to ensure safe, reliable operation and production goals.

The role requires strong problem solving, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret schematics and manage documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Associate’s degree or Certificate in Industrial Maintenance Technology or related program preferred.
• 2-5 years of experience in electrical or industrial maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots, repairs, installs, and maintains electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical systems throughout the facility.
• Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on motors, controls, VFDs, PLCs, sensors, conveyors, elevators, sifters, and related equipment.
• Diagnoses equipment failures and responds to production downtime in a timely and effective manner.

Pay Range: $26-28 per hour

Shift: Monday - Friday 7AM - 3:30PM with call-in coverage, as needed.

Position Summary:

The Electrician/Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting maintenance reliability, with a strong focus on electrical troubleshooting, instrumentation, and mechanical maintenance at a 30,000 cwt/day wheat flour mill. This role helps ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of equipment at facility needed to support the plant’s safety, production, quality, and environmental objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoots, repairs, installs, and maintains electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical systems throughout the facility.

• Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on motors, controls, VFD’s (Variable Frequency Drive), PLC’s (Programable Logic Controller), sensors, conveyers, elevators, sifters, compressors, dust collection systems, and related equipment.

• Diagnoses equipment failures and responds to production downtime in a timely and effective manner.

• Reads and interprets electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and equipment manuals.

• Completes work orders and respective documentation accurately and on time in computerized management system, prioritizing the completion of urgent work orders and ensuring low amounts of rework.

• Maintains proper inventory of maintenance parts and equipment using computerized inventory management system.

• Follows and understands ESLP (Equipment Specific Lockout Procedure) to ensure safe and successful Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) of process equipment.

• Executes daily Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure and maintain cleanliness throughout the plant and department.

• Adheres to all safety regulations and partners with team members and plant leadership to foster a culture of safety for all individuals.

• Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.

Preferred Skills:

• Understanding of mechanical equipment, including industrial electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, electronic principles.

• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.

• Ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.

Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma/GED, required.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

• Associate’s degree or Certificate in Industrial Maintenance Technology or related program, preferred.

• 2-5 years of experience in electrical or industrial maintenance related roles, preferred.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States without Visa sponsorship.

• Ability to understand & effectively communication in English (verbal & written).

• Strong fundamental skills (math, reading, writing, & verbal communication).

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to move about on a work site by ascending/descending stairs, extensive walking, climbing steps or ladders, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling, or squatting frequently

• Ability to operate equipment or machinery that may be located at different heights with open view grating from multiple elevations or in confined spaces

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds overhead

• Ability to traverse two (2) miles or more during the course of a workday

• Ambient conditions - Work area is, typically, a non-air-conditioned production environment. Working in in extreme heat and cold in all seasonal elements, both indoors and outside on a regular basis.

• Atmosphere: May come in contact with dust, wheat, chemicals, or odor

• Must be able to work around vibrating equipment and noise levels that may reach or exceed 85 decibels and will require use of hearing protection for most of the work shift

• Employees are required to wear all company provided Personal Protective Equipment (i.e., hard-hats, safety glasses, earplugs, uniforms, and steel-toed boots) in addition to job specific PPE requirements (i.e., fall protection equipment and respirators)

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay for this position is expected to be:

$26-$28/hr
