  • Repair, replace and install all electrical equipment and systems in accordance with hospital, state, and federal codes and regulations. Install and maintain the electronic controls for machinery.
  • Plan, install, terminate, and test data circuits include Cat5e, Cat6e, fiber optic, telephone, and CATV
  • Oversees and participates in troubleshooting circuits to locate problems.
  • Repairs or replaces motors, pumps, outlets, ballasts, light switches and all other lighting and power requirements.

Job Summary

Participate in the construction, installation, modification, maintenance and repair of electrical appliances, systems, facilities and related electronic controls and devices by interpreting blueprints, manufacturer specifications, and written and verbal instructions.

Functions and Duties
  • Assist in the establishment of preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems and facilities.
  • Install, connect, test, and maintain electrical systems for a variety of purposes, including fire prevention and detection systems, climate control, security, and communications.
  • Repair, replace and install all electrical equipment and systems in accordance with hospital, state, and federal codes and regulations. Install and maintain the electronic controls for machinery.
  • Plan, install, terminate, and test data circuits include Cat5e, Cat6e, fiber optic, telephone, and CATV
  • Oversees and participates in troubleshooting circuits to locate problems.
  • Repairs or replaces motors, pumps, outlets, ballasts, light switches and all other lighting and power requirements.
  • Follow organizational and departmental procedures for safety practices.
  • Keeps work area clean, orderly, and free of hazards.
  • Ensures proper care and safety in the use of equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains appropriate appearance and good hygiene with workmen type clothing and wearing hospital's identification badge at all times.
  • Works with other mechanics, engineers, and boiler operators to complete work orders, preventive maintenance, and planned events.
  • Supports construction project work both in-house and contracted with vendors.
  • Produces smaller scale auto cad drawings from field notes and other collected data.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or 5 years' experience in a related field in lieu of education required.
Experience
  • 5 years' journeyman's experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures from blueprints, schematics, and sketches required in lieu of education.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Electrician licensure or certification required[TK1] .
Skills and Abilities
  • Test/Troubleshoot electrical circuits, equipment and appliances, using appropriate tools.
  • Perform routine, corrective, emergency and preventative maintenance of electrical systems and equipment as required.
  • Disassembles repairs and reassembles or replaces defective electrical equipment such as plugs, switches, outlets, controls, ballasts, motors and appliances.
  • Maintains records and information pertinent to work assignments.
  • Works with outside contractors as assigned to ensure that work is completed according to specifications and deal with problems occurring in the project.
  • Estimate project costs and plans project needs.
  • Follows lock out tag out safety precautions.
Physical Demands
  • Sit or stand for a prolonged periods of time.
  • Regularly exposed to body fluids with the risk of blood borne pathogens or airborne pathogens.
  • Average lifting 50 pounds / Able to transfer 60 pounds.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) (mask, gown, gloves, other hearing and body protection).
  • Works in a safe manner with all tools and equipment needed to accomplish the above essential functions and duties. Examples: ladders, hand and power tools, industrial tools such as table saws, portable pumps, drain cabling and hydro flush machines.
  • Able to use stairwells to move from floor to floor.
  • Able to lift or position materials greater than 50 pounds with assistance or assistive devices; requesting assistance is expected.
  • Required in positioning and moving furniture, equipment, and construction materials.
  • Considerable twisting, bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching during many aspects of job duties.
  • Motor coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Able to hear changes in pitch necessary to recognize normal and not normal mechanical sounds.
  • Able to use one or both hands for grasping, pushing/pulling and fine adjustments to perform procedures.
  • Able to feel vibrations and temperature changes.
  • Near acuity: clarity of vision at 20 inches or less, with 20/40 vision or better with or without correction.
  • Far acuity: clarity of vision at 20 feet or more, with 20/40 vision or better with or without correction.
  • Ability to adapt to continually changing environment.
  • Able to accept constructive criticism and accept own limits.
