Job summary

J is seeking an experienced electrician to perform repairs, installations and maintenance of electrical systems in a demanding environment. You will read blueprints, diagnose faults, and ensure compliance with safety standards while working with a range of equipment including generators and switchboards.

The role requires formal apprenticeship or licensed Journeyman/Master status and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Formal apprenticeship completion or licensed Journeyman/Master electrician.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, layouts and specifications.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend and climb.
• Experience with CMMS is highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Perform major repairs, improvements and/or installation of electrical/electronic systems.
• Install/repair generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems and others.
• Work from blueprints, drawings and layouts.
• Locate and diagnose trouble in electrical systems/equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and assist maintenance team as required.

Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Must perform major repairs, improvements and/or installation related to electrical and/or electronic systems shall comply with all State licensing requirements.
• Installation and repair of a variety of electrical equipment, such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.
• Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
• Locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
• Working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment.
• Use of a variety of electrician’s hand tools, and test & measurement instruments.
• Requires rounded training and experience, usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship, licensed Journeyman or Masters
• Maintains the general cleanliness and appearance of assigned spaces.
• Assists others as part of the maintenance team as required and performs other duties assigned.

Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements

Must be qualified persons as defined by EM 385-1-1 Section 11 A (General).

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Knowledge of computer software programs to include Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook required.
• Experience with a Facility Computerized Maintenance Management System software (CMMS) highly desired.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions.
• Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
