Job summary

Generator Supercenter, Inc. in Wheeling, IL is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to join our installation team. You will wire, install and maintain standby generator systems for residential and light commercial projects, ensuring code-compliant work and safe operation.

The role requires 2+ years of experience, NEC knowledge, and the ability to read blueprints. We offer strong training, competitive pay and opportunities for advancement in a fast-growing company.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Journeyman Electrician License or Residential Wireman License.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of residential or commercial electrical experience.
• Strong knowledge of the NEC (National Electrical Code).
• Ability to read electrical drawings and blueprints.
• Comfortable working with tools, conduit benders, and test meters.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in various conditions.

Responsibilities

• Pull wire, bend and install conduit, and wire electrical devices and control panels.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
• Install electrical components for generator systems including ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches).
• Perform load testing, electrical diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
• Assist in preparing generator sites, including trenching, piping, and setting mechanical components.
• Conduct AC and DC electrical work for power generation systems.
• Use electrical measurement and testing equipment proficiently and safely.
• Ensure all installations meet local and national electrical codes.
• Promote a safe and positive work environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
