The Opportunity

VDC Specialists is looking for people who want to take their construction knowledge into the planning and coordination side of the industry.

Our primary focus is finding experienced commercial electricians who want to transition from field installation into Virtual Design & Construction (VDC). We are also open to entry-level candidates who have strong aptitude, construction interest, and want to build a career in BIM modeling.

You do not need to know BIM software to be successful here. We can teach the software. What matters is your ability to learn, think through problems, take feedback, and put in the work to become good at it.

For experienced electricians, your field knowledge becomes the foundation for planning how electrical systems will actually be installed before crews arrive onsite.

For entry-level candidates, you'll learn the construction and modeling process from the ground up through structured training and hands‑on experience.

What You'll Do

Depending on your experience level, you will learn to:

  • Plan conduit routing and installation methods
  • Review electrical drawings and specifications
  • Apply construction and field knowledge to model electrical systems
  • Identify clashes and installation conflicts before construction
  • Support prefabrication and build‑sheet development
  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other trades
  • Participate in coordination and problem‑solving meetings
  • Help develop installation strategies that improve efficiency
  • Build and modify models using Revit
  • Review project information using Navisworks and Bluebeam

Our work supports complex construction projects including data centers, hospitals, laboratories, airports, and other large commercial facilities.

What We're Looking For

We are especially interested in candidates with:

  • Commercial electrical experience
  • Experience running and bending EMT conduit
  • Experience installing supports such as strut, trapeze, racks, etc.
  • Strong blueprint reading ability
  • Understanding of electrical installation practices and code requirements
  • Experience solving problems in the field
  • Foreman or leadership experience is a plus
  • Experience coordinating with multiple trades is a plus
Entry‑Level Candidates

You do not need previous BIM or electrical experience to apply.

We are interested in people who:

  • Learn quickly and enjoy figuring things out
  • Take feedback well and actually apply it
  • Communicate clearly
  • Pay attention to details
  • Take ownership of their work
  • Are willing to ask questions and put in the work to improve
  • Are interested in building a long‑term career in VDC/BIM
  • Construction, drafting, engineering, architecture, or related experience is a plus, but not required for the right candidate.
The Learning Curve

This is not a position where you are expected to walk in knowing everything.

There is a significant amount to learn, and your first several months will involve training, coaching, and developing technical skills.

We believe there is a strong career path for people who consistently demonstrate that they can learn, solve problems, take ownership, and add value. Increased responsibility and compensation come with demonstrated capability and performance over time.

This position can develop into a career in Virtual Design & Construction (VDC), where construction knowledge and technical modeling skills come together to influence projects before they are built.

As your technical skills and responsibilities develop, so does your role.

What We Offer
  • Paid health insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Retirement plan with company match
  • Paid time off
  • Paid holidays
  • Parental leave
  • Overtime opportunities
  • No regular nights or weekends
