Job summary

Johns Manville McPherson, KS is seeking an Electrician Apprentice to join the team. The incumbent inspects, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, systems, buildings, facilities and structures, following blueprints and established procedures under supervision of a Maintenance employee or technical leader.

Apprentices attend scheduled classes at HCC and may have paid time when classes conflict with work.

Qualifications

• Electrician experience preferred.
• Knowledge in PLC and drive configuration.
• Knowledge of Ethernet networking.
• Ability to communicate verbally and non-verbally with a variety of individuals.
• Must be physically able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments.
• Reads, interprets, and follows basic blueprints, diagrams, and sketches and makes measurements.
• Performs maintenance and repair on machinery, equipment, systems, and plant facilities.
• Welds, brazes, cuts, solders, and silver-solders metal from difficult positions.
• Fills out work orders, requisitions, inspection reports, and time/material usage records.
• Assists with inspections on machinery and equipment in operation.
• Periodically inspects and adjusts or repairs the plant fire protection system and alarms.
• Uses hand and power tools and a variety of measuring/testing instruments.
• Attends required classes for the apprenticeship program.
