Job summary

Texas Water Utilities is seeking a skilled Electrical Maintenance Technician to inspect and repair pumps, motors, SCADA equipment and controls at water facilities. The role involves rewiring controls, installing and troubleshooting remote monitoring systems, and restoring power as needed.

Candidates should have 1–3 years of related experience, a high school diploma or GED, and an electrician license with water/wastewater licensing within a year. Equal opportunity employer; E-Verify participant.

  • Assist operations and maintenance personnel as needed.

To maintain, repair or replace pumps, motors, electrical and SCADA equipment in place at water and wastewater facilities.

What You’ll Bring
  • Education: Requires knowledge normally acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED plus advanced skills and technical knowledge attained by specialized courses and on-the-job training.
  • Experience: 1-3 years related experience
  • Computer Skills: Basic Skills
  • Certificates & Licenses: Job requires employee to have at minimum an electrician license. Employee also needs to obtain at a minimum “D” water and wastewater licensing within one year.
  • Other Requirements: Work consists of standard procedures and tasks where basic analytical ability is required to select the correct action. Supervisor assigns tasks and provides assistance with no-routine matters; employee works independently within established guidelines and/or timeframes. Job requires occasional irregular hours and being on-call 24 hours a day. Requires interaction and cooperation with co-workers to resolve problems and obtain necessary information. Requires climbing, working in a tight place, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, lifting, etc. associated with accessing and repairing equipment. Equipment used includes hand and mechanical tools, electrical testing equipment, truck for transportation to job sites.
Work Environment

Work is performed primarily outside and in water and wastewater facilities. Worker is subjected to adverse weather conditions, including temperature extremes, humidity and precipitation; noise and vibration from heavy equipment, physical hazards from moving machines, and equipment with moving parts, traffic, hazardous chemicals, and bacteria in wastewater.
