Job summary

Nexus Water Group is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Austin, TX to perform maintenance on distribution and collection systems, install taps, and maintain plant equipment. You will troubleshoot pumps, motors, valves, and blowers; perform repairs, replace valves and hydrants, and assist with plant operations as required.

Requires 1–2 years of related experience and a high school diploma. This role requires physical stamina, ability to work shifts, and willingness to travel within the service

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years related experience in maintenance.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to operate basic equipment and read technical information.

Responsibilities

  • Perform water line and sewer repairs, new line installation, taps, flushing valve maintenance, and plant equipment maintenance.
  • Maintains work truck and tools.
  • Inspects and maintains pumps, motors, valves and blowers; troubleshoot as needed.
  • Replaces valves and repairs fire hydrants.
  • Assist plant operations as required.

Overview

The Nexus Water Group team has an opportunity for aMaintenance Technician. Perform maintenance on the distribution and collection system, install taps, and performs maintenance on plant equipment.To maintain, repair or replace mechanical equipment in place at water and wastewater facilities.

Work Location and Schedule

This position is located inAustin, TX. After-hour and weekend on-call support may be required. Some travel may be required within service area. Must be available to work shift work; weekend scheduling may be required.

What You\'ll Do

The Maintenance Technician will perform the following duties:

  • Responsible for water line and sewer repairs, new line installation, taps, flushing valve maintenance, and plant equipment maintenance.
  • Maintains work truck and tools.
  • Inspects and maintains pumps, motors, valves and blowers in working order, troubleshooting problems as they arise.
  • Pulls motors and pumps for repair, to include wiring and fabrication of parts as necessary.
  • Replaces valves.
  • Repairs fire hydrants.
  • Assist plant operations as required.
What You\'ll Bring

Experience

  • One to two years related expereince

Education and Certification

  • High school Diploma
  • Must maintain a valid driver\'s license.

Physical and Technical Skills

  • Basic skills with Microsoft Suite of applications
  • Ability to read and comprehend written technical information and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to operate, maneuver, and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, and tools
  • Work requires lifting, moving and/or carrying fire hydrants, concrete meter boxes, other heavy items weighing over 25 pounds; driving trucks and operating a backhoe; duties also require walking, reaching, lifting, climbing, stooping, and digging. Equipment used includes backhoe, tools and equipment required to install and repair water and sewer lines.
Work Environment

Work is performed primarily outside and is subject to weather and environmental conditions.

  • Worker is subject to adverse weather and environmental conditions, including temperature extremes, humidity and precipitation; noise and vibration from heavy equipment; physical hazards from moving machinery, equipment with moving parts, traffic, hazardous chemicals, and bacteria in wastewater.
