Job summary

Grand River Health in Rifle, Colorado seeks an experienced Electrician PRN to maintain and enhance hospital facilities. You’ll inspect, repair, install, and modify electrical systems, working under the Facilities Manager to keep critical plant equipment running safely.

The role requires five years’ electrical or related experience, a Colorado Journeyman license, and the ability to troubleshoot while coordinating with the HVAC and facilities teams.

Qualifications

  • Colorado DORA Journeyman Electrician license and at least five years of electrical or related experience; healthcare experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED; Colorado Driver's License and clean MVR.
  • Experience with electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical repairs, basic HVAC, equipment servicing, and preventive maintenance.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70, fire safety, lockout/tagout, arc flash and workplace safety rules.
  • Experience with building automation systems; basic computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair, install, modify, and maintain electrical systems, circuits, and equipment throughout GRHD facilities.
  • Perform plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical repairs, equipment servicing, grounds maintenance, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Operate critical hospital plant equipment: boilers, chillers, clinical air and vacuum systems, clinical gases, liquid oxygen systems, emergency generators, fire alarm systems.
  • Respond to facility emergencies and participate in rotating on-call coverage to ensure continuous operation.
  • Collaborate with the HVAC Technician and Facilities team; support contracted labor when needed.
  • Follow planned maintenance requirements, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and GRHD policies to provide a safe, comfortable, and sanitary environment for patients, residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

Working under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, you’ll help keep Grand River Hospital District’s facilities safe, reliable, and running smoothly. This role combines electrical expertise with hands-on facility maintenance and emergency response.

  • Inspect, repair, install, modify, and maintain electrical systems, circuits, and equipment throughout GRHD facilities.
  • Perform a variety of maintenance duties, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical repairs, equipment servicing, grounds maintenance, and vehicle preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain and operate critical hospital plant equipment, including boilers, chillers, clinical air and vacuum systems, clinical gases, liquid oxygen systems, emergency generators, and fire alarm systems.
  • Respond to facility emergencies and participate in rotating on-call coverage to ensure continuous operation and readiness.
  • Collaborate with the HVAC Technician and Facilities team, including cross-training and supporting contracted labor when needed.
  • Follow planned maintenance requirements, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and GRHD policies to provide a safe, comfortable, and sanitary environment for patients, residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.
Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a skilled, safety-minded electrician who brings strong troubleshooting abilities and hands-on facility maintenance experience. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and supporting the unique demands of a healthcare environment.

  • Current Colorado DORA Journeyman Electrician license and at least five years of electrical or related experience; healthcare experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred, along with a current Colorado Driver’s License and clean MVR.
  • Experience with electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical repairs, basic HVAC systems, equipment servicing, and preventive maintenance.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70, fire safety, lockout/tagout, arc flash, and other workplace safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with building automation systems and controls preferred, along with basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems, prioritize multiple tasks, work effectively with others, and learn GRHD systems including Meditech, Kase, Trane BAS, HealthStream, Kronos, and Safety Data Sheets within six months of hire.
What We Offer

Our total rewards package includes

  • Pay Range: $29.42- $42.02/hour (based on experience)
  • Shift Differentials: $2-$4/hour for nights and weekends, and other incentive pay available.
  • PRN Differential: 10% differential in addition to base rate salary

Compensation may vary outside this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.
