Job summary

Silgan Containers in Richmond, VA is looking for an Electrician to support manufacturing operations. You will read blueprints and instructions to lay out, install, inspect, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems across the plant.

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and experience as an electrician with PLC exposure. We offer benefits, paid lunches, uniforms, steel-toe reimbursement, overtime, and opportunities for advancement.

Responsibilities

• Work from blueprints, sketches, charts, or verbal instructions.
• Layout, install, inspect, troubleshoot, alter, maintain, dismantle, repair and replace electrical systems such as fixtures, lights, meters and motors.
• Perform and record maintenance checks and transfer information to blueprints.
• Layout, install and maintain electrical equipment such as automatic controls, switchboards, control panels, etc.
• Replace defective wiring and make connections to new installations; replace fuses; repair and install electrical fixtures and motors; maintain wiring connections on control panels.
• Perform electrical work in all plant areas including roof, boiler house and attic.

What you’ll do:

• Work from blueprints, sketches, charts, or verbal instructions
• Layout, construct, assemble, disassemble, install, inspect, troubleshoot, alter, maintain, dismantle, repair, clean and replace electrical systems such as fixtures, lights, meters, and motors
• Perform and record maintenance check and transfer information to blueprints
• Layout, install and maintain variety of electrical equipment such as: automatic controls, switchboards, control panels, etc. establish secondary distribution center balance loads, wire circuits having a large number of units and connections
• Perform various duties such as: replace defective wiring, make connections to new electrical installations; replace fuses; repair and install electrical fixtures, motors, etc., replace small parts on motors such as brushes, etc, maintain and install wiring connections on control panels, fans, motors and starting devices, blowers, etc
• Performs electrical work in all plant areas including roof, boiler house and attic
