This is skilled trades work installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems and equipment.
Knowledge of the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems.

Ability to install, maintain and repair electrical systems.
Ability to use a multimeter to test wires for proper voltage and continuity, a ground fault detector to locate wire failures and a megameter.
Ability to use hand tools and power tools and equipment properly.
Ability to read and clearly understand blueprints.
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to carry, erect, climb, and maneuver on ladders and/or scaffolds; work in tight and awkward spaces; ark off of roofs, cat walks and other elevated areas.
Ability to carry or otherwise move loads of 50 pounds or more (pipe, wire, tool boxes, etc.).
Ability to understand and apply University rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and within extreme temperature ranges.
Visual ability, corrected, to observe people and/or vehicles moving through the work area in order to redirect work or equipment to avoid injuries to the people or damage to the vehicles.
Ability to communicate information effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
LSU Health New Orleans Division of Facility Services is seeking highly skilled applicants for the position of Electrician. The person applying for this position should possess two years of experience in the Electrical trades (such as Electrician’s helper).
Compensation: Starting rate of pay $19.67 per hour. There is also an additional $1 Longevity pay for hours worked only. Rate may be increased depending on applicants’ qualifications.

Hours of Operation: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Friday
