Job summary

LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans, Division of Property and Facilities, seeks an Electrician with two years of electrical trade experience to join our campus maintenance team. The role includes installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems across the LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans campus, with supervision of junior staff when needed.

Compensation starts at $19.67 per hour, plus an additional longevity pay.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience or training in the electrical trade.
  • Experience with electrical systems incl. wiring, conduit, lighting, panels, transformers, and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, alter, and repair electrical wiring and related components campus-wide.
  • Investigate and reset elevator controls when possible.
  • Perform electrical-related demolition and minor construction tasks.
  • Operate electrical equipment such as manlift, pipe threading machine, drill press.
  • Supervise lesser skilled workers in the absence of Electrician Master.
  • Assist with campus maintenance emergencies and work orders.

  • installs, maintains, alters, and repairs electrical wiring (underground and above ground), conduit ( underground, exterior, and interior), external light fixtures and poles (parking lot, sidewalk, and building), interior Light fixtures, power appliances, light machinery, electrical controls (switches, breakers, fuses, and panel boxes), transformers, motor starters, related switchgear and controls, outlets and all other related electrical circuits and equipment which also includes in-house renovations
  • investigates and resets elevator controls when possible
  • performs electrical-related demolition and construction work on minor projects as assigned throughout the entire campus
  • possesses the ability to properly and safely operate the following equipment: manlift, pipe threading machine, drill press, and other equipment used in daily tasks
  • supervises lesser skilled workers in the absence of Electrician Master
  • campus maintenance emergencies, work orders and assists other trades as needed
Position-Specific Details:

Compensation: Starting rate of pay $19.67 per hour. There is also an additional $1 Longevity pay for hours worked only. Rate may be increased depending on applicants' qualifications.

Hours of Operation: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Friday

Appointment Type: Probational

Pre-employment Drug testing, Physical, and Criminal Background check are required.

No Civil Service Test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.
