Job description

Locomotive Electrician – West Wareham, MA

This role involves building and rebuilding locomotives and locomotive assemblies, working on electrical and pneumatic systems, and supporting customer needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform testing and troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic systems.
  • Read electrical and pneumatic schematics.
  • Operate electrical test equipment.
  • Design basic electrical circuits.
  • Install electrical components and run/terminate wiring.
  • Cut, crimp, and install cabling; pull wire harnesses through conduit.
  • Drill and tap holes; clean, sandblast, and paint old parts.
  • Disassemble and assemble locomotive parts and subassemblies.
  • Know and understand FRA rules (training provided).
  • Interact with customers and collaborate with coworkers.
Qualifications
  • Five years of experience building and/or maintaining heavy equipment.
  • Strong understanding of locomotive maintenance and repair; manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Preferred experience with diesel engines, propulsion, pneumatics, and large‑industry sectors such as rail, agriculture, mining or marine.
  • Language skills: ability to read and comprehend simple instructions; write and present information verbally.
  • Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, computing rates, ratios, percentages, and interpreting bar graphs.
  • Reasoning ability: apply instructions in written, oral or diagram form; solve problems involving concrete variables.
  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 lb, stand/walk/sit/stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl; use hands for grasping, pulling, handling; operate in awkward positions.
  • Vision requirements: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles; use of respirator, hearing protection; exposure to heights and chemicals; noise above 85 dB.
Location & Travel

West Wareham, MA (primary work site). Travel may be required depending on project needs.

Compensation & Benefits
