Job summary

Electrician

Job Summary

This role focuses on optimizing plant performance through advanced troubleshooting, repair, and programming of motor control systems and automation equipment. The specialist will ensure reliability and efficiency of electrical systems, particularly motor drives and control networks, while upholding all safety standards and IKO values.

Job Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot motor control systems, including VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), soft starters, and servo drives.
  • Diagnose and repair complex electrical and control circuits for motors and associated equipment.
  • Ability to navigate Studio 5000.
  • Work extensively with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial communication protocols.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on motor control systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to implement automation improvements.
  • Interpret and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control logic documentation.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and network analyzers.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, and plant safety standards.
  • Provide technical training and mentorship to maintenance personnel on motor control systems.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance with a focus on motor controls and automation.
  • Strong knowledge of AC/DC motors, VFDs, servo systems, and motor protection devices.
  • Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with industrial networking and communication protocols.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve issues using remote HMI and SCADA systems.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation sensors, transmitters, and feedback devices for motor control.
  • Skilled in using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to reliability.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work shifts, weekends, and respond to 24-hour call‑outs.
