Job summary

Johnson Controls, Silent-Aire division, seeks an on-site technician to install switchgear, wire and maintain control systems for data center equipment. You will read schematics, diagnose faults, and ensure safety and quality in every task.

The role requires the ability to train apprentices, manage time effectively, and work shift 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with strong teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
• Appropriate credentials and certifications are desirable.
• Ability to work independently in a busy, fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt in a diverse team.
• Good written and verbal communication; able to work under pressure.
• Attention to detail; professional and courteous handling of tasks.

Specific Accountabilities:

• Installation of switchgear
• Rough and finish wiring and control systems
• Installs system components and wiring in compliance with the applicable standards
• Installs, troubleshoots, and maintains electrical control circuits for motors and control devices for various electrical devices
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance
• Instruct and coach apprentices
• Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance and repair techniques
• Other assigned work as required

Working Conditions:

• Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. safety glasses, safety boots, ear protection, etc.).
• Regularly works near moving parts.
• Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
• Noise levels can fluctuate from quiet to loud.
• May work in tight spaces
• Hazards associated with the industry.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent
• Completion of college/vocational or technical training preferred
• Appropriate credentials and certifications
• Ability to work independently in a busy environment
• Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
