Job summary

Winpak Ltd. is seeking a Maintenance Electrician for our South Chicago Heights, IL facility on the night shift. This role troubleshoots, repairs, installs, and improves electrical systems to keep production equipment running safely and reliably.

You will work with PLCs, motor drives, and control systems while supporting continuous improvement and mentoring others. The ideal candidate has hands-on industrial electrical maintenance experience in manufacturing, with strong PLC/motor drive skills

Qualifications

• Hands-on industrial electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot three-phase power and 110/220/440V AC/DC systems.
• Experience with PLCs, microprocessor-based controls, AC/DC motors and drives.
• Ability to read/modify electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge of electrical codes and safe work practices.

Winpak is seeking a Maintenance Electrician to join our Maintenance team at our South Chicago Heights, IL manufacturing facility on Night shift. In this hands-on role, you will troubleshoot, repair, install, and improve the electrical and electronic systems that keep our production equipment operating safely and reliably. You will work with programmable logic controllers, industrial controls, motors and drives, digital and analog circuitry, and plant power systems while partnering with other maintenance professionals to minimize downtime and support continuous improvement. This is an opportunity for an experienced industrial electrician who enjoys solving complex equipment problems and sharing technical knowledge with others.

Key Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial electrical and electronic systems on production and plant equipment.
• Analyze, repair, and program programmable logic controller systems, microprocessor-based controls, and related application software; make authorized software or logic changes when needed.
• Troubleshoot and repair alternating-current and direct-current motors, motor drives, solid-state controls, power boards, and analog and digital circuitry.
• Read, interpret, create, and update electrical schematics, ladder logic, wiring diagrams, and control-panel documentation.
• Design, lay out, wire, install, and modify electrical control panels using applicable industry standards, with a focus on safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.
• Install and repair plant electrical equipment, including power and control wiring, motors, controllers, lighting, cycle timers, temperature controllers, and pressure controllers.
• Use voltmeters, ammeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic instruments to evaluate system performance and identify root causes of electrical failures.
• Support mechanical maintenance activities, equipment changeovers, rebuilds, and component replacement; perform light brazing, welding, and soldering as qualified.
• Provide technical guidance and hands-on training to maintenance team members on electrical and electronic systems.
• Complete all work in accordance with electrical codes, lockout/tagout requirements, food-packaging safety standards, and company safety, quality, sanitation, and Good Manufacturing Practice procedures; report food-packaging safety concerns to plant management.

Required Qualifications:

• Hands-on industrial electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing, production, or similarly complex operating environment.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot three-phase power and 110-, 220-, and 440-volt alternating-current systems, direct-current systems, high-voltage equipment, and low-voltage control wiring.
• Practical experience troubleshooting programmable logic controllers, microprocessor-based controls, AC/DC motors and drives, relay ladder logic, and analog and digital circuitry.
• Ability to read, interpret, develop, and modify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control-panel layouts.
• Proficiency using electrical test equipment, including voltmeters and ammeters; ability to use oscilloscopes or comparable diagnostic equipment when required.
• Working knowledge of electrical codes, proper conductor sizing, industrial wiring practices, and safe electrical work procedures.
• Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills and the ability to safely use hand tools while supporting equipment repairs and changeovers.
• Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices, sanitation programs, chemical-control procedures, food-safety plans, and quality requirements in a food-packaging environment.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly, collaborate across maintenance and production teams, and train or guide others in electrical and electronic troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Technical diploma, apprenticeship, associate degree, or equivalent advanced training in industrial electricity, electronics, automation, mechatronics, or a related field.
• Experience modifying programmable logic controller programs and troubleshooting human-machine interfaces or computerized industrial control systems.
• Experience designing, building, wiring, and documenting industrial control panels.
• Experience with light welding, brazing, and soldering in an industrial maintenance setting.
• Relevant electrical license, industrial maintenance certification, or manufacturer-specific controls training.
• Schedule: Nights 7:00pm-7:00am
• Work arrangement: This position is 100% onsite at our Chicago Heights, IL manufacturing facility.

The compensation range provided is a general guideline only. Pay is up to $37.00/hr. It is determined based on the candidate's experience and expertise and may vary.
