Job summary

Tessera is seeking an experienced Electrician to support industrial lighting systems at the Anchorage-area base. The role requires diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues, performing lamp and ballast replacements, and maintaining grounding/lighting protection.

You will read schematics and work from blueprints, using digital inspection tools and lift devices to complete service tasks.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years electrical experience.
  • Alaska electrical license preferred (Journeyman level).
  • Alaska certificate of fitness required.
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
  • Able to read schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, operate, and test industrial lighting equipment to diagnose electrical and mechanical malfunctions.
  • Replace lamps and ballasts.
  • Inspect, install, and maintain grounding and lightning protection systems.
  • Clean lighting fixtures; replace receptacles, switches, and wiring as needed.
  • Perform routine electrical maintenance per NEC and safety standards.
  • Plan and layout repair work from diagrams and blueprints.
  • Operate digital inspection tools and lift equipment to service lights.

Type: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shift

Compensation: $54.41 - $54.41 per hour

Tessera is seeking an experienced and detailed Electrician with a positive attitude.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:
  • Inspect, operate, and test industrial lighting equipment to diagnose electrical and mechanical malfunctions.
  • Responsible for replacing lamps and ballasts.
  • Inspect, install, and maintain grounding and lightning protection systems.
  • Responsible for cleaning lighting fixtures, replacing receptacles, various switches, and other connections, and performing miscellaneous re-lamping repairs.
  • Minor electrical installations and repairs, including, but not limited to, outlet repair and /or replacement; circuit breaker(s), various sensors, and ground fault interruptions, etc.
  • Perform routine electrical maintenance to ensure lighting systems operate efficiently in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Plan and layout repair work using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematic diagrams.
  • Utilize mobile maintenance and inspection devices to maintain a record of all service and repair activities.
  • Maintain and operate all lift equipment necessary to service lights.
  • Must be able to work from heights, ladders, and man lifts.
  • Must have the ability to distinguish between different wire colors.
  • Must be able to drive up to a 1-ton pickup or bucket truck with trailer.
  • Utilize digital inspection tools such as infrared thermal imaging.
  • Must wear PPE as required.
  • Remove and replace wiring and conduit as required.
  • Be proficient with NFPA 70 and 70E and comply with ANSI C2.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of electrical experience required.
  • State of Alaska electrical license preferred (Journeyman level license preferred).
  • State of Alaska electrical administrator license preferred.
  • Alaska certificate of fitness required.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification preferred.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of different environments, including inclement weather and high man lifts.
  • Must be able to read and understand schematics and blueprints.
  • Must be able to and willing to work outside of normal work hours as in back shift and weekends, with notice.
Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
Requirements:
  • A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance.
