An established industry player is seeking a skilled electrician to join their team in Akron. This role involves repairing and maintaining electrical systems, ensuring safety and efficiency in operations. Polymer Engineering Pilot Center (PEPC). PEPC provides advanced research and testing technologies for product and process development, continuing to leverage Firestone's rich industry heritage to provide outstanding product quality and develop polymers for next-generation applications. The plant is located on a 35-acre site and produces MT quantities of baled products for testing. Our polymer engineering facilities in Akron work closely with Bridgestone's global facilities to develop the latest in tire polymer technologies. We are a part of the Akron Complex and participate in all Akron-based community activities.
- Operate, service, and maintain new and existing electric light and single/3-phase power distributioncircuits in class I Div I & II areas according to NFPA 70, 70E, &70B.
- Measure, cut, bend, and assemble conduit and wire, pull wire through conduit, drill holes forholding bolts, repair or replace defective elements.
- Dismantle mechanism as necessary to gain access to and remove defective parts and make anyauthorized changes in circuits, components or coordinated devices for purposes of efficiency andquality of product using specialized tools as necessary.
- Cut, bend, assemble connect, tighten, solder, adjust and otherwise repair defective parts andelements or obtain replacements from stores as required and reassemble mechanism, properly adjusting to assure optimum performance.
- Transport necessary equipment and materials to job site, clean up job site, return unused materialsto storage and dispose of refuse.
- Make oral or written reports as requested by supervision concerning inspections, adjustments andrepairs.
- Interpret and mark up pipping and instruments drawings/electrical one-line diagrams.
- Perform or assist duties of storeroom attendant as directed by supervision.
- Perform simpler duties of or assist other classifications to expedite completion of assigned job andperform other typical duties consistent with the job factors as required or that may be requested by supervision.
- Must attend classes when provided by the company for the improvement of above services or toincrease employee's knowledge of a specific machine, machine part or service equipment.
- Observe all applicable safety rules to avoid accidents, exercise care when operating power trucks,and wear protective personal equipment when required.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
- Electrician Journeyman’s card preferred, or minimum 8 years electrician experience
- Ability to function effectively in a team environment and work independently
- Maintain a clean and organized working environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Wear required personal protective equipment including but not limited to flame-retardantclothing, hardhat, safety shoes, safety glasses, and occasionally a respirator.
- Work at heights, climb stairs and ladder
- Adhere to facilities Safe Work Practices including but not limited to Lock Out Tag Out, linebreaking, hot work, and confined space
- Must have a valid driver’s license
Required Physical Activities and Working Conditions:
Standing, walking, lifting and carrying 50 lbs. without assistance, bending, stooping, twisting, reachingand stretching, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crawling, use of hands and feet, finemotor manipulation. Climb a straight ladder. May be exposed to noise, vibration, odors, and dust. Workmay be done indoors and outdoors. Some work is confining, greasy, dirty and performed in high and lowtemperatures and mechanical hazards. Job requires normal vision, walking speed, and depth perception.
Typically requires a high school degree; or 1-2 year vocational training / associates degree
