Job summary

HBK Engineering, LLC is seeking a mid‑level Planning Engineer in Ontario to manage overhead and underground distribution projects. You will design lighting, UG and OH systems and coordinate with permitting, environmental and client teams to ensure on‑time, quality deliverables.

The role requires 3+ years in planning/design, P1 experience, GIS proficiency, and strong communication. Travel up to 30% may be required with mentoring responsibilities and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in planning, design or related engineering field.
• P1 experience as primary utility contact required.
• 5+ years in Electrical Utility Distribution Design or related preferred.
• GIS/WMIS exposure for planning and material systems.
• Familiarity with SPIDA, O-Calc or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple concurrent projects with quality and deadlines.
• Design and engineer Lighting, UG, and OH utility systems.
• Resolve complex design issues using engineering principles.
• Interface with internal teams, external organizations, and agencies.
• Provide training, mentoring, and oversight to juniors.
• Lead larger scope projects and manage budgets.
