Job summary

Hitachi Energy USA Inc. in South Boston, VA is seeking 2nd and 3rd shift Test Technicians to join our Power Grids division. You will perform electrical tests and help manufacture liquid-filled transformers in a safety-conscious environment.

Under minimal supervision, you will operate test equipment, calibrate instruments, generate Certified Test Reports, and support continuous improvements while collaborating with engineering and other teams. Overtime including weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or diploma in Electrical Electronics program or related field equal to a minimum of two years of electrical education is required.
• Previous experience in a test manufacturing environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of electrical tests including power factor, low and high-power tests, Impulse, Special, Standard, and Temp Run.
• Calibrate instruments.
• Must be articulate and explain problems/solutions to Engineering.
• Must have a high level of safety awareness and perform work safely.
• Must have basic computer skills to create Certified Test Reports.
• Follow ISO standards.
• Troubleshoot test equipment and apply knowledge to repairs or modifications.
• Participate in continuous improvements initiatives.
• Interface with other departments to communicate information.
• Cross-train in multiple skills.
• Assist in training of other employees.
• Work independently and/or in teams.
• Overtime as required including weekends.
