Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking an Electrical Test Technician for the 3rd shift to validate performance, safety, and reliability of critical power distribution equipment. You will conduct electrical tests on transformers, switchgear, and related components in a hands-on manufacturing environment.

You will interpret schematics, operate advanced testing equipment, analyze data, and troubleshoot issues to support continuous improvement and product excellence.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent practical experience in electrical engineering technology.
  • 2–4 years of experience in electrical testing, preferably in manufacturing power distribution equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Experience with electrical testing equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, hipot testers, and power quality analyzers.

Responsibilities

  • Execute electrical tests on transformers, switchgear, and other power system components according to procedures and safety standards.
  • Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical specifications to support testing and troubleshooting.
  • Operate and maintain electrical testing equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, hipot testers, and power analyzers.
  • Analyze and document test results, recording findings and identifying performance deviations.
  • Investigate test failures through root cause analysis and collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to implement corrective actions.
  • Calibrate and verify testing equipment to ensure measurement accuracy and compliance.
  • Support quality objectives by maintaining testing standards and contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and communicate test status to stakeholders.

How You'll Make an Impact

Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background
  • Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in electrical testing, preferably in a manufacturing environment supporting power distribution equipment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles, circuits, and power system components.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Experience with electrical testing equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, hipot testers, and power quality analyzers.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently during a 3rd shift schedule.
