As a Systems Engineer, you will research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify, and improve cutting-edge products and services. You will develop complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms, guiding them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and testing using advanced tools. As a cross-functional engineer, you will be responsible for system-level ownership of new products and processes throughout their lifecycle.

You will define, design, develop, test, certify, and improve innovative software products, ranging from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems to highly integrated aircraft and space exploration systems. Your tasks include coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting systems and software throughout development. You will be involved in designing and developing new software products across the product lifecycle.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection, and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Homeland Security, and commercial clients with experience in platform operations, engineering, and full lifecycle management across air, land, sea, space, and cyber domains.

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor of Science in System Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of System Safety engineering principles for military applications
  • Knowledge of Software Safety engineering principles
  • Understanding of safety-critical systems
  • Experience with risk evaluation and analyses of systems and subsystems
  • Knowledge and application of MIL-STD-882E
  • Application of the Joint Software Systems Safety Engineering Handbook (JSSSEH)
  • Experience with Functional Hazard Analyses (FHA)
  • Ability to evaluate software contribution and level of rigor (LOR)
  • Experience working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team
  • Experience planning and overseeing system and software safety efforts
  • Strong organizational skills and work ethic
  • Understanding of engineering principles and practices
  • Experience with requirements management, functional requirements, systems design, integration, risk management, and V&V principles

Preferred:

  • Experience with requirements management and system modeling tools (e.g., DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, MATLAB)
  • Knowledge of mechanical design principles and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Certification or experience in INCOSE standards
  • Background in Aerospace and Defense Industry
  • Experience leading baseline definition and maturation in complex development settings
  • Understanding of Technical Performance Measurements (TPM)
  • Knowledge of Static/Dynamic code analyses and tools
  • Familiarity with US Navy/NAVAIR guidance
  • Knowledge of Design Assurance and Agile development
  • Familiarity with bi-directional traceability, software development, V&V, and Q&A processes

Estimated Starting Salary: $109,592.82 - $150,690.13 USD annually
