Job summary

Legrand, Syracuse, NY, is seeking an Electrical Test Engineer to join the Pass & Seymour team. The role focuses on laboratory testing and evaluation of wiring device products to support R&D and quality assurance.

You will prepare test samples, design fixtures, and document results for engineering stakeholders. The ideal candidate has hands-on electrical/mechanical testing experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to communicate findings clearly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years in a professional engineering, test, compliance, or certification setting.
• Hands-on laboratory testing experience with electrical/electronic and mechanical testing.
• Familiarity with wiring device safety, performance, and certification requirements.
• Ability to document test results clearly for engineers and product teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate client test programs with internal teams, labs, and certification bodies.
• Maintain certification statuses (UL/ETL, NEC, CSA, CB Scheme) for assigned products.
• Plan and execute qualification, certification, reliability, thermal, environmental, mechanical and electrical tests.
• Collaborate with product teams to evaluate designs against regulatory and market requirements.
• Follow test protocols and contribute to improvements in equipment, documentation, and lab capabilities.
• Prepare test samples, fixtures, and test reports; support qualification and certification activities.
• Travel up to 15% to external test laboratories for certification support.
