Job summary

Legrand is seeking a Test Engineer for the Pass & Seymour team in Syracuse, NY. The role focuses on laboratory testing and evaluation of wiring device products in support of R&D and quality assurance.

You will perform electrical and mechanical tests, troubleshoot issues, and document results for engineering stakeholders while following testing protocols and improving lab capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology required; Master’s degree a plus.
• 3+ years in professional engineering, testing, or related technical setting.
• Experience in laboratory testing: electrical/electronic, mechanical, environmental, or certification testing.
• Familiarity with low-voltage power distribution equipment and safety requirements.
• Exposure to NRTLs or external testing labs is a plus.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and report-writing skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; programming microcontrollers is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with internal teams, agencies, and labs on testing programs.
• Maintain certification statuses (UL/ETL, NEC, CSA, CB Scheme) for products.
• Plan and execute qualification, certification, reliability, thermal, environmental, and performance tests.
• Support product development with regulatory and market compliance assessments.
• Follow and improve test protocols, equipment, and documentation practices.
• Prepare samples, fixtures, and set up test equipment for evaluation.
• Document findings and communicate test results to stakeholders.
