Job summary

Twenty80 LLC is seeking Electrical Field Service Technicians (Levels II-IV) to perform acceptance, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of medium- and high-voltage equipment across utility, industrial, commercial, and data center environments. The ideal candidate has hands-on testing experience, NFPA 70E knowledge, and the ability to travel up to 50% to support field projects.

Qualifications

  • 2-8+ years of electrical testing or field service experience (depending on level).
  • Hands-on experience testing medium- and/or high-voltage electrical equipment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical power distribution systems.
  • Familiarity with NETA standards and NFPA 70E.
  • Experience interpreting testing procedures and documenting results.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% based on project requirements.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Perform acceptance and maintenance testing of medium- and high-voltage equipment; ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and evaluate switchgear, transformers, breakers, and protective relays.
  • Execute LOTO procedures and NFPA 70E safety requirements.
  • Conduct arc-flash and electrical hazard assessments as required.
  • Diagnose equipment deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Analyze test results and prepare detailed field service reports and documentation.
  • Communicate findings and project updates to internal teams and customers.
  • Support or lead field crews and mentor junior technicians; uphold safety and quality standards.

Role Summary

Our client, a leading provider of electrical power testing and engineering services, is seeking Electrical Field Service Technicians (Levels II-IV) to perform acceptance, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of medium- and high-voltage electrical equipment across utility, industrial, commercial, and data center environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced electrical testing professionals who enjoy field work, prioritize safety, and are looking to grow their careers within a technically advanced organization. Placement level and compensation are based on experience, certifications, and technical expertise. Candidates with strong hands-on apparatus testing experience are encouraged to apply, even if they are not currently certified.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical Testing & Field Services
  • Perform acceptance and maintenance testing of medium- and high-voltage electrical equipment in accordance with industry standards (including NETA standards where applicable)
  • Test, troubleshoot, and evaluate:
    • Low- and medium-voltage switchgear
    • Power transformers
    • Circuit breakers
    • Protective relays and protection systems
  • Execute Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and follow applicable electrical safety standards, including NFPA 70E
  • Conduct arc-flash and electrical hazard assessments as required
  • Diagnose equipment deficiencies and recommend corrective actions
Documentation & Reporting
  • Analyze test results and identify deficiencies
  • Prepare detailed field service reports and technical documentation
  • Communicate findings and project updates to internal teams and customers
Team Collaboration & Leadership
  • Support or lead field crews depending on experience and certification level
  • Mentor junior technicians and trainees when appropriate
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and customer service throughout project execution
Required Qualifications
  • 2-8+ years of electrical testing or field service experience (depending on level)
  • Hands-on experience testing medium- and/or high-voltage electrical equipment
  • Strong understanding of electrical power distribution systems
  • Familiarity with NETA standards and NFPA 70E
  • Experience interpreting testing procedures and documenting results
  • Ability to travel up to 50% based on project requirements

Preferred Qualifications
  • NETA Level II-IV certification
  • NICET Electrical Power Testing (EPT) Level II-IV certification or equivalent
  • Candidates without certifications who possess strong hands-on apparatus testing experience will also be considered
  • Experience using electrical testing equipment such as Megger, Doble, Omicron, SEL, Doble M4000, or similar
  • Experience with PowerDB or comparable reporting software
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Experience leading field crews or mentoring junior technicians
Ideal Candidate Profile

Successful candidates typically have:

  • Extensive hands-on electrical testing experience rather than solely electrical maintenance or construction backgrounds
  • Experience working with medium- and high-voltage electrical systems
  • Practical experience using industry-standard testing equipment
  • Ability to independently explain testing procedures and results (including transformer turns ratio, power factor, and similar electrical tests)
  • Experience preparing comprehensive field service reports
  • Strong communication skills and a safety-first mindset
Schedule & Travel
  • Full-time, field-based position
  • Regional travel up to 50%, depending on project needs
  • Typical travel schedule consists of weekday travel with weekends generally at home
  • Overtime opportunities available based on project demands
  • Candidates should be willing to travel, though travel requirements may vary depending on assignments
Compensation

Compensation is based on experience, certifications, and technical expertise.

  • Level II - Typical Experience: 2-4 years or equivalent; Hourly Rate: $35-$60/hr
  • Level III - Typical Experience: 5-8 years or equivalent; Hourly Rate: $65-$75/hr
  • Level IV - Typical Experience: 8+ years or equivalent; Hourly Rate: $75-$85+/hr
