Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or technical school.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.8 or higher.
  • Commit to the program schedule and safety requirements.
  • Proven experience in technical training or instructional design.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineering projects by performing electrical assembly, wiring, component installation, and setup/testing according to drawings and instructions.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical systems and control issues (PLCs, drives, sensors, relays, wiring); implement corrective repairs or upscale when needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on control panels, wiring harnesses, and related equipment; document findings and actions.
  • Collaborate with engineers to validate fixes, update schematics, and support design changes through hands‑on testing and verification.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including lockout/tagout, and maintain accurate troubleshooting and repair records in the maintenance/project system.

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable part-time Electrical Technician to join our Timken - Professional Experience Program. This role is crucial in assisting with the developing, designing, and implementation of manufacturing electrical designs and/or projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist engineering projects by performing electrical assembly, wiring, component installation, and setup/testing according to drawings and instructions.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical systems and control issues (PLCs, drives, sensors, relays, wiring); implement corrective repairs or upscale when needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or technical school (undergraduate or relevant post-secondary programs)
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
  • Ability to commit to the program schedule and comply with safety and confidentiality requirements.
  • Proven experience in technical training, instructional design, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging diverse audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
