Job summary

Timken is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable part-time Electrical Technician to join our Professional Experience Program. This role supports the development, design, and implementation of manufacturing electrical designs and projects, helping advance our motion technology.

You will assist engineers with electrical assembly, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure safety protocols are followed while gaining hands-on experience in a global industrial

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or technical school (undergraduate or relevant post‑secondary programs).
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
  • Ability to commit to the program schedule and comply with safety and confidentiality requirements.
  • Proven experience in technical training, instructional design, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; capable of engaging diverse audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with electrical assembly, wiring, installation, and test per drawings.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical systems and control issues; escalate when needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on control panels and wiring; document actions.
  • Collaborate with engineers to validate fixes and update schematics.
  • Adhere to safety protocols including lockout/tagout and recordkeeping.

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable part‑time Electrical Technician to join our Timken - Professional Experience Program. This role is crucial in assisting with the developing, designing, and implementation of manufacturing electrical designs and/or projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist engineering projects by performing electrical assembly, wiring, component installation, and setup/testing according to drawings and instructions.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical systems and control issues (PLCs, drives, sensors, relays, wiring); implement corrective repairs or escalation when needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on control panels, wiring harnesses, and related equipment; document findings and actions.
  • Collaborate with engineers to validate fixes, update schematics, and support design changes through hands‑on testing and verification.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including lockout/tagout, and maintain accurate troubleshooting and repair records in the maintenance/project system.
