Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, seeks an Experienced Technician II for its Cortland, New York Electrical team. The role supports engineering, performs routine testing, and maintains equipment, with potential travel up to 5%.

The base wage ranges from $21 to $25 per hour, with competitive benefits. Ideal candidates bring a high school diploma, 1.5 years related experience, and strong safety practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1.5 years of directly related experience.

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines.
• Ability to use basic shop equipment and various hand tools.
• Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner.
• Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions.
• Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management.
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal, written and presentation formats.
• Microsoft Office software expertise, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Must be customer focused and quality driven.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
• Ability to travel, up to 5%.

Responsibilities

• Read and apply test methods and test specifications provided by engineering for EUT.
• Read and understand schematics and manufacturing instructions; locate required test instruments.
• Set up and operate standard test samples and equipment.
• Use hand tools to build/calibrate test fixtures.
• Operate equipment and perform testing per approved test plan.
• Obtain and record test data per standards.
• Perform basic analysis of test data and routine calculations.
• Maintain and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
• May make recommendations regarding test standards interpretation.
• May communicate with clients and management.
• May adapt procedures and equipment to meet department needs.
• May prepare project files for compliance with operating procedures.
• Assist with training entry level technicians.
• May draft test reports.
• Maintain equipment and facilities.
• Perform other work as required.
