Job summary

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, seeks a Technician II to join our Electrical team in Arlington Heights, Illinois. This role supports engineering staff and conducts electrical/performance testing to US/Canada and other international standards, writing reports and communicating with clients.

The salary range is $28 - $35 per hour with benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, 401(k) with company match, and generous PTO.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years electrical, mechanical and/or hands-on equipment experience.
• Understanding of US, Canada & international safety standards (e.g., ANSI, IES, CIE, NEMA, UL/CSA).
• A valid driver's license and reliable driving record.
• Ability to utilize basic shop equipment and various hand tools.
• Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information clearly.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.

Responsibilities

• Read and apply test methods and test specifications for EUT (equipment under test).
• Read and understand schematics and manufacturing instructions.
• Under project scope, identify and locate test instruments and equipment.
• Set up and operate EUT; perform simple repairs as needed.
• Perform testing of products in accordance with standards (input rating, temperature, leakage, dielectric, plus more).
• Develop and set up test plans.
• Set up and operate standard test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, multimeter, etc.).
• Move equipment and properly package samples for shipment.
• Maintain equipment and facilities and document test results.
