Job Description:Designing, developing, installation and upgrade machine controls for assigned manufacturing machinery and equipment.Duties and Responsibilities:Serving as an automation technical resource for continuous improvement and capital projects efforts working with the Electrical Controls EngineerCompleting improvement projects that help meet site goalsProviding PLC and drive support for plant equipmentSupporting the electrical design, schematics and drawings using AutoCADDocumenting electrical modifications made to equipment (i.e. updating schematics, drawings, work instructions, etc.)Work with Engineers to read mechanical design drawings for electrical requirementsTroubleshooting issues with existing installed systemsSupporting and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement, quality, high performance and process excellenceRemaining familiar with new equipment and assisting in training other techniciansEnsuring compliance to all safety policies and procedures. Establishing, supporting and maintaining a “safety first” cultureAccountable for employee safety through active engagement in safety activitiesCompleting incident investigations, root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough mannerStaying informed of process changes which may affect the normal operation of the equipmentProvide guidance to all plant certified electrical workers in regards to PLC/AutomationAssist other employees as needed. Foster a team environment.Utilize root cause analysis to address process and quality issuesOther duties as assigned.Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any electrical issuesInitiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.Suggest actions for continual improvement to products, processes, or systems.Verify the implementation of solutions.Address safety issues upon discovery and/or notification.Supervisory Responsibilities: n/aEducational and Other Skills Requirements:Associate degree in Engineering (PET, IET, EE, Met) or equivalent experienceEntry-Level experience in the following:Debugging and testing electro-mechanical systems and controlsConfiguring HMIs for discrete manufacturing equipmentProgramming and commissioning motion control systems including multi-axis robots and servosProgramming PLC based controls for manufacturingIndustrial automation with electro-mechanical and controls workMachine vision applications a plusUtilizing engineering principles and knowledge to effectively troubleshoot control issues.Effective written and oral communication skills.Good people skills and ability to systematically troubleshoot.Highly organized and able to work independently.Additional information:The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
