Job description

Technician (Associate, Level I) – Colonial Pipeline

Responsibilities
  • Installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic systems.
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and manuals.
  • Supporting emergency response efforts and maintaining related equipment.
  • Managing parts requisitions and assisting with budget tracking.
  • Completing documentation for DOT compliance and internal reporting.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) from an accredited educational institution.
  • Ideally, 1+ years of industrial related experience in a technical or operations (mechanical or electrical) field.
  • Valid Driver’s License and the ability to travel to locations as required.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including holidays and weekends, and to respond to call‑outs and occasional overtime.
  • Ability to complete NexTech Skill Sets I and II.
  • Mechanical aptitude and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to think critically and make sound decisions.
  • Commitment to consistently adhere to policies and procedures and to demonstrate the company’s core values.
  • Self‑motivated and eager for growth.
  • Preferred: Apprenticeship completed or an Associate or technical degree; 3+ years of industrial field operations experience; 1+ years as a pipeline technician; HAZWOPER training; forklift licensing; other state licenses.
DOT Covered

This is a Department of Transportation (DOT) covered job and is subject to all applicable regulatory requirements, including drug and alcohol testing as required under 49 CFR Part 199.

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions
  • Work indoors and outdoors, all hours and all weather conditions, near refined petroleum products and heavy equipment.
  • Physical mobility to sit, stand, reach, pull, push, and bend.
  • Lift up to 75 lbs unassisted.
  • Work in non‑permit required confined spaces.
  • Communicate verbally by two‑way radio.
  • Traverse uneven terrain.
  • Operate various tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Climb tank steps up to 60 ft and vertical ladders to valve platforms.
  • Work from valve platforms and tanks to 60‑foot heights.
  • Normal visual acuity; if corrected, vision must be 20/40 or better.
  • Distinguish colors, especially red, green, white, and black, for control panels and product analysis.
  • Detect the presence of petroleum products by smell.
Compensation & Benefits

Base compensation range: $68,726.75 – $127,333.75. Total rewards also include benefits and other compensation elements.
