Job summary

Vertical Laboratories in Glendale, CA seeks an Electrical Technician (Test Equipment & Lab Maintenance) to build and maintain the machines that test aerospace and subsea hardware.

You will wire electrical panels, prepare connectors, and keep all lab systems running. This role requires 4+ years in panel building or industrial maintenance and proficiency with schematics and electrical test tools.

Qualifications

• 4+ years hands-on electrical experience in panel building, industrial maintenance, or electromechanical systems.
• Ability to read and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and drawings.
• Proficiency with multimeters, megohmmeters, and standard electrical test equipment.
• Strong soldering, crimping, and wire termination skills.
• High school diploma or GED; technical or trade school training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build, wire, and test electrical control panels for custom test machinery from schematics and drawings.
• Prepare electrical connectors and cable assemblies for testing, including wiring, crimping, soldering, and termination.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on lab equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical and electromechanical failures and restore equipment to service quickly.
• Work with engineers to integrate controls, sensors, and instrumentation into new test setups.
• Keep maintenance and repair records current under ISO/IEC 17025 quality system.

Electrical Technician (Test Equipment & Lab Maintenance)

Vertical Laboratories LLC | Glendale, CA | Full-Time, Day Shift | $28.00–$32.00/hr.

Build and maintain the machines that test aerospace and subsea hardware.

Much of the equipment we use to test aerospace and subsea hardware doesn't exist off the shelf; we build it. At Vertical Laboratories, you'll wire the electrical panels that run our custom test machinery, prepare connectors for qualification testing, and keep every system in the lab running. If you like building things from schematics, solving problems with a meter in your hand, and being the person everyone counts on when a machine goes down, this role is for you.

What You'll Do:

• Build, wire, and test electrical control panels for custom test machinery from schematics and drawings.
• Prepare electrical connectors and cable assemblies for testing, including wiring, crimping, soldering, and termination.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on lab equipment, including environmental chambers, vibration and shock systems, pressure systems, tensile testers, and electrical test equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical and electromechanical failures and restore equipment to service quickly.
• Work with engineers to integrate controls, sensors, and instrumentation into new test setups.
• Keep maintenance and repair records current under our ISO/IEC 17025 quality system.
• Keep the shop and electrical work areas organized and safe.

What You Bring:

• 4+ years of hands-on electrical experience in panel building, industrial maintenance, or electromechanical systems.
• Ability to read and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and drawings.
• Proficiency with multimeters, megohmmeters, and standard electrical test equipment.
• Strong soldering, crimping, and wire termination skills.
• High school diploma or GED; technical or trade school training preferred.
• Military electrical training is a huge plus, especially U.S. Air Force electrical training.
• PLC, relay logic, or motor control experience is a plus.

You'll learn our equipment and procedures during your first weeks, and we invest in continuing education throughout your career. There's room to grow into a lead technician role as our lab and equipment base expand.

Work Environment

Active laboratory and shop environment with periodic elevated noise levels from test equipment; hearing protection provided where required. Work involves both standing and sitting, work around energized electrical equipment following safe work practices, and lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. PPE provided and required.
