Subsea Pressure Test Technician

Vertical Laboratories LLC | Glendale, CA | Full-Time, Day Shift | $30.00–$38.00/hr.

Test the connectors that power and connect equipment on the ocean floor.

At Vertical Laboratories, you'll qualify subsea connectors and cable assemblies for oil and gas and defense programs. You'll pressure-test hardware to 20,000 psi while monitoring its electrical performance in real time. It's hands-on, high-stakes work, and every program is different.

What You’ll Do:

• Perform hydrostatic pressure testing on connectors and cable assemblies up to 20,000 psi (20 ksi).
• Perform insulation resistance, dielectric withstanding voltage (hi-pot), and continuity testing, including monitoring under pressure.
• Perform benchtop testing: mating durability, mating and unmating force, contact resistance, and coupling/uncoupling torque.
• Operate pressure vessels, temperature/humidity chambers, universal tensile testers, and hi-pot testers.
• Test to customer qualification procedures, industry specifications such as API Spec 17F, and EIA-364 series methods.
• Document results in controlled datasheets under our ISO/IEC 17025 quality system.

What You Bring:

• 5+ years of hands-on pressure testing experience, preferably on subsea connectors or interconnects.
• Working knowledge of high-pressure safety practices.
• High school diploma or GED; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Google Workspace.
• High-voltage and partial discharge testing experience is a plus.
• API 17F wet-mate connector qualification experience is a plus.

Work Environment

Active laboratory environment with high-pressure and high-voltage test systems and periodic elevated noise levels; hearing protection provided where required. Work involves both standing and sitting, handling cable assemblies and fixtures, and lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. PPE provided and required.
