Summary of Functions:
Assist customers with on-site troubleshooting and repair of existing Schuler equipment, as well as assembly and startup of new presses. Provide customer training and establish strong relationships for technical support. Apply mechanical and hydraulic knowledge to test, troubleshoot, and repair systems. Read prints, drawings, schematics, and perform basic calculations. Support service sales by identifying and presenting products, parts, and services. Maintain customer relationships to ensure satisfaction.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Repair or assemble Schuler products and components, performing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic assembly, and testing.
- Maintain familiarity with machine assembly, including fluid technology, through training.
- Assemble based on drawings, specifications, and instructions.
- Develop knowledge of Schuler standards and service manual formats.
- Assist in determining repair or spare parts requirements for customers.
- Perform and document preventative maintenance inspections and develop protocols.
- Submit timely field reports and documents.
- Report unsafe operating conditions.
- Collaborate effectively with team members.
- Perform basic electrical work within scope.
- Advise customers on upgrade opportunities and practical solutions.
- Recommend service and preventative maintenance programs.
- Support quote development for services and parts.
- Produce accurate service reports.
- Be available for 24-hour service support, including holidays and weekends.
- Provide detailed receipts for accurate invoicing.
- Maintain commitment to quality, safety, cost control, and customer service.
- Maintain valid passport and driver's license with good record.
- Participate in training and safety requirements.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree preferred.
- 2-5 years of related experience.
- Journeyman card.
- Experience with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Preventative maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
- Valid passport and driver's license.
- Willingness to travel extensively within US, Canada, and Mexico.
- Flexible work hours and reliable time management.
- Professional appearance and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently and in teams.
- Fluent in English; German skills a plus.
- Visa holders/ESL individuals must pass TOEFL exam.
