Job summary

RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer focused on Electrical Integration within the main cabin seating team. You design major components, develop layouts, and drive manufacturability considerations to deliver safe, reliable installations.

You will collaborate with electrical integration, certification, design engineering, vendors and project teams to ensure system integrity and FAA compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the company’s immigration sponsorship now or in the future. The company will not offer immigration sponsorship for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate electrical components and wiring into design while meeting vendor and OEM requirements.
  • Liaises between electrical integration team, electrical certification, design engineering, vendors and project teams.
  • Prepare work statements for electrical integration team.
  • Direct the work of outsource resources assigned on projects in electrical integration areas.
  • Verify system configuration and block diagrams.
  • Prepare, modify and release drawings created in CAD (NX) to verify fit, form and function of mechanical and electrical designs.
  • Design brackets and fixations for electrical components and wiring. Verify structural acceptability of designs by testing prototypes for reliability and FAA certification through static and dynamic crash testing.
  • Evaluate materials and parts for use in new designs including communicating with current and new suppliers.
  • Operate in a team environment with other functional areas providing input to design solutions and participate in design reviews.
