Job summary

The Engineering, Technology, and Design (ET&D) Division at Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking engineers to design, develop, and integrate electrical and combat systems for U.S. Navy submarines and aircraft carriers. The role validates requirements, manages interfaces, and ensures compliance with performance standards.

Requires ABET-accredited engineering education; Master’s degree is a plus. On-site, relocation assistance available. Travel up to 25% may be needed; U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program required.
• Master’s Degree in a relevant field is a plus.
• Experience with submarine or carrier electrical systems is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of electrical distribution and protection systems.
• Ability to read/system schematics and drawings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support design and development of electrical and combat systems.
• Establish design requirements from top-level specifications.
• Manage system interfaces and ensure integrated functionality.
• Develop and execute verification and validation procedures.
• Coordinate with design, test, and construction teams.
• Lead or contribute to technical deliverables and reports.
