Job summary

Panelmatic, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Testing Technician, Switchgear to join our Houston, TX team. This role focuses on functional, electrical, and quality testing of low- and medium-voltage switchgear assemblies prior to shipment.

The ideal candidate has strong experience reading schematics, troubleshooting, and using electrical test equipment, with emphasis on safety and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; technical certification is a plus.
• 5+ years of experience testing electrical control panels or switchgear.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and diagrams independently.
• Hands-on experience with electrical test equipment (multimeters, megger, hipot).
• Familiarity with UL 508A/UL 891 or similar standards.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Perform functional and electrical testing of switchgear, MCCs, and control panels.
• Conduct wiring checks, megger insulation tests, and hipot testing.
• Verify operation of protective relays, breakers, and instrumentation.
• Execute FAT with internal teams and customers when required
• Identify and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues with engineering teams
• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings
