Job summary

I.B. Abel Inc. seeks an experienced estimator to drive cost estimation for electric utility projects in Pennsylvania. The role involves reviewing contract documents, performing material take-offs, gathering quotes, and supporting bid and project delivery processes.

The successful candidate will have 5+ years in electric construction estimating, strong MS Office and Accubid skills, and local PA residency with willingness to travel to other offices and sites.

Qualifications

• Education and/or work experience in Electric Utility industry; Engineering or Construction degree preferred.
• Five+ years of cost estimating experience in Electric construction; estimating knowledge of electrical industry.
• Combination of education and work experience validating estimating skill level.
• Proficient in MS Office and Accubid Estimating Software.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Projects and/or Primavera is a plus.
• Local to Pennsylvania; travel to other offices, facilities, jobsites; flexibility to work from home when appropriate.
• Can-do attitude, strong work ethic, and collaborative with teams.

Responsibilities

• Estimating execution and bid preparation; review docs, perform take-offs, obtain quotes, and prepare input for deliverables.
• Bid administration and documentation management; upload documents, submit RFIs, prepare award documents, ensure thorough pre-construction planning.
• Contract and scope review; verify PO and subcontracts, flag milestones and potential changes, align estimate with project execution.
• Project handoff and collaboration; assist startup, attend meetings, relay cost insights to PM team.
