Job summary

Hurckman Mechanical Industries, Inc. seeks an Electrical Sales Engineer to design and sell integrated electrical systems for commercial and industrial projects. You will build strong client relationships, manage design development, and lead proposals, budgets, and quotes through the sales cycle.

The role emphasizes collaboration with project management and production teams to ensure smooth handoffs and successful project execution, while staying current on industry trends and safety practices.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field experience.
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience in the MEP industry with a strong technical background in electrical systems and products.
  • Understanding of LEED principles; LEED AP certification preferred.
  • Excellent negotiation, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients, designers, project managers, and office personnel.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and solutions-oriented under pressure.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel); experience with Adobe Acrobat and/or Bluebeam is preferred.
  • Ability to access active construction job sites, including climbing ladders, walking uneven terrain, kneeling, crawling, and performing site inspections as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand market share in electrical design/build services.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure total customer satisfaction throughout sales and project execution.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and company initiatives.

Position Summary

The Electrical Sales Engineer is responsible for designing and selling integrated electrical systems tailored to customer needs and specific building requirements. This role focuses on building strong customer relationships while managing the design development of projects. The primary responsibility is to sell design/build services, with a secondary focus on collaborating with the project management team to ensure a seamless project handoff and successful execution.

  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and company initiatives to support sales strategy and business growth.
  • Collaborate with project management and production teams to determine manpower requirements and support efficient project execution.
  • Participate in preconstruction, turnover, and kickoff meetings to ensure a smooth transition from sales to project execution with a clearly defined scope and design intent.
  • Develop conceptual budgets, perform high-level cost analyses, and evaluate the financial impacts of design decisions during the sales process.
  • Promote and model adherence to all company safety policies and encourage a culture of safety throughout the organization.
  • Attend internal training programs and external seminars to stay current on design standards, industry best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support departmental and company objectives.
