Job description

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Electrical Safety Manager in Bloomington, IL. The Electrical Safety Manager will lead onsite safety efforts for large-scale electrical construction projects across Illinois, working closely with project management, field leadership, general contractors, and craft personnel to maintain a proactive safety culture and ensure full compliance with company, client, OSHA, and project-specific requirements. This full-time, permanent position requires a hands-on safety professional with deep knowledge of electrical construction hazards, OSHA construction standards, and NFPA 70E compliance. The ideal candidate brings five or more years of dedicated construction safety experience, preferably gained supporting an electrical contractor on data center, mission-critical, industrial, or large commercial projects.

Annual Salary: $110,000 to $135,000 Annually BOE

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and enforce the site-specific safety program for electrical construction activities across assigned project locations.
  • Conduct daily site walks, safety observations, inspections, and hazard assessments, coordinating immediate corrective actions for unsafe conditions or work practices.
  • Partner with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field personnel to plan and execute work safely.
  • Lead new-hire safety orientations, toolbox talks, jobsite training sessions, and safety meetings.
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses, pre-task plans, permits, and high-risk work activities prior to execution.
  • Monitor electrical safety procedures including energized work, lockout/tagout, temporary power, arc-flash protection, and NFPA 70E compliance.
  • Oversee fall protection, excavation, confined-space, material-handling, aerial-lift, ladder, and PPE requirements across all active work areas.
  • Investigate incidents, injuries, property damage, and near misses; complete root-cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain OSHA logs, inspection reports, training records, incident documentation, and all required project safety records.
  • Coordinate with general contractors, owners, subcontractors, and regulatory representatives to ensure site-specific safety expectations are met.
  • Maintain emergency-response plans, coordinate required drills, and support return-to-work and claims-management activities as needed.
  • Track safety trends and communicate findings to project and company leadership to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
  • Five or more years of construction safety experience in a dedicated safety role.
  • Previous experience supporting electrical, mission-critical, data center, industrial, or large commercial construction projects strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards (29 CFR 1926).
  • In-depth understanding of electrical hazards, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout procedures, and energized-work requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, employee training, and corrective-action planning.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field craft personnel, project managers, general contractors, customers, and senior leadership.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills with experience maintaining OSHA logs and project safety records.
  • Ability to travel between Illinois project locations as required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to spend the majority of the workday walking and inspecting active construction sites in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
  • May be required to climb stairs, ladders, and access elevated work areas.
  • May be exposed to heights, loud noise, dust, and other construction-site environmental conditions.
  • Must be able to wear and properly use required personal protective equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, and other PPE as conditions require.
  • Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds on occasion.
Pay Transparency:

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $110,000 to $135,000 annually, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
