Job summary

B&D Industries, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Quantity Surveyor I to accurately calculate cost value reconciliation for electrical systems in our construction projects.

The role requires reading electrical drawings, identifying components, and applying precise cost estimation methods to bids and ongoing work. You will collaborate with planning, procurement, and finance teams, prepare tender documentation, and develop BOQs while maintaining discipline and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Estimating, or related field preferred.
• 2 years of relevant construction industry experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare takeoff quantities from construction drawings.
• Prepare cost estimation for MEP works (Electrical), including pricing, rate buildup for materials, labor, etc.
• Coordinate review of draft tender documentation to ensure all systems and components of the tenders are included.
• Develop Bill of Quantities (BOQ) based on tender drawings and specifications, ensuring inclusion of all works.
• Correspond with Consultants/Authorities regarding specifications, technical requirements, and BOQ differences to tender requirements, and raise queries for clarification.
• Perform risk assessments, value management, and cost control measures.

Summary

As an Electrical Quantity Surveyor I, the primary responsibility is to accurately calculate Cost Value Reconciliation in our specialized construction areas for continuous economic appraisal of our customers’ projects. The ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, identify all relevant components, and understand installation and specifications are essential skills for this role. The position requires above-average attention to detail and a strong commitment to completing tasks on time. A somewhat faster-than-average pace will be the norm for this position. Detailed and specialized work is the primary focus, and the role is generally task-oriented, requiring a conservative, careful, and cautious approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare takeoff quantity from construction drawings
• Coordinate the review of draft tender documentation to ensure all systems and components of the tenders are included
• Knowledge in initial review of projects, conditions of contract, contract documents, specifications, and design drawings
• Preparation of tender documentation queries to consultants or clients to confirm and collect any missing data
• Attend technical meetings and weekly progress meetings as required
• Preparation of Cost Estimation for MEP Works (Electrical), including pricing, rate buildup for materials, labor, etc.
• Invite the Quotation from Subcontractor/Supplier, Negotiation and Comparison; ability to prepare pre-contract and tender activity
• Maintain and regularly update the approved Subcontractor/Supplier database
• Develop Bill of Quantities (BOQ) based on tender drawings and specifications, ensuring inclusion of all works
• Correspond with Consultants/Authorities regarding specifications, technical requirements, and BOQ differences to tender requirements, and raise queries for clarification
• Coordinate with planning, procurement, finance, and administration cell for necessary documents required for the submission
• Perform risk assessments, value management, and cost control measures
• Undertake cost analysis for repair, replacement, and maintenance works
• Prepare cost analysis on quotation to be submitted for bids
• Interpret electrical drawings and specifications to identify all relevant components and ensure accurate inclusion in project planning and costing
• Conduct quantity takeoffs and evaluate cost proposals
• Review and measure executed works against project specifications
• Develop and coordinate detailed shop drawings and coordination drawings
• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication
• Physical demands include long hours sitting, using a computer, standing, pulling/pushing, walking, lifting, and climbing
• Job requires intermediate computer proficiency, advanced critical thinking skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Estimating, or other relevant fields preferred
• 2 years of relevant construction industry work experience required
• Electrical Journeyman License preferred
• Proficiency in MS Office required
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Estimating/Quantity Surveying software preferred
• Ability to recognize contractual obligations of both the company and its subcontractors
