Hiring Mission Critical/Data Center experts on the East Coast - Thor Engineering

Job Title: Senior Project Manager

Location: Charleston, SC / Atlanta, GA / Washington DC, United States - (Can be a Travelling role + per diem).

Department: Data Center Construction/Project Management

Reports To: Vice President

The Senior Project Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the execution of electrical projects on the East Coast in line with SOPs. You will be leading hyperscale & large scale Data Center construction projects with a project team which you will be tasked with mentoring and coaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead preconstruction efforts, including estimates and serving as Bid Captain.
  • Oversee procurement of project bonds, insurance, permits, and inspections.
  • Plan and manage construction execution, scheduling, and workflow.
  • Develop and track budgets, financials, billing, cash flow, and projections.
  • Manage change orders, quotations, purchasing, and contract compliance.
  • Lead subcontractor negotiations and management.
  • Track labor, materials, and earned value; ensure adherence to company policies.
  • Ensure timely documentation, reporting, and milestone tracking.
  • Support field teams, resolve issues, and ensure schedule and quality adherence.
  • Provide technical support including NEC interpretation and QA/QC oversight.
  • Ensure project safety standards and coordination across teams.
  • Mentor and train project managers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience managing Electrical systems in commercial construction or related environments.
  • Strong understanding of Electrical systems, commissioning processes, and project lifecycle.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and resolve on-site conflicts effectively.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in Mission Critical / Data Center construction projects
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NFPA, NEC, ASHRAE).
  • Experience with BIM coordination and clash detection is a plus.
  • Proficient in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam).

Compensation & Structure:

  • Total compensation: variable (circa $125,000 -$180,000 + add ons), tailored to experience and performance.
  • Various locations available for specific project needs.
