Job description

Electrical Project Manager — Commercial & Industrial
Raleigh, NC
About the Company

Our client is a well-established, self-performing electrical contractor serving North Carolina since 2008. With a team of 50 employees, its own in-house electricians, the company has grown steadily by delivering quality work on commercial, industrial, healthcare, higher education, and state and municipal projects, along with a growing building automation group and past experience in solar. The team is owner-led and hands-on, and focused on better-quality projects rather than chasing volume. They do not build residential or multifamily work.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to run commercial and industrial electrical projects from award through closeout. You will work closely with operations leadership, field superintendents, and project administrators to protect margin, keep schedules moving, and keep general contractors and owners confident in the work. Projects span the Greensboro-Raleigh-Greenville corridor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full project lifecycle for commercial and industrial electrical projects, from buyout and mobilization through commissioning and closeout.
  • Own project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and monthly job cost reviews to protect profitability.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and track change orders, RFIs, submittals, and contract documentation.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, and coordinate manpower, materials, and equipment with field leadership.
  • Manage purchasing, including POs, subcontracts, and material procurement and deliveries, working with project administrators on AIA billing and pay applications.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for general contractors, owners, architects, and engineers, and run project meetings and progress updates.
  • Review drawings and specifications, identify scope gaps and conflicts early, and support estimating on takeoffs and bid-to-build handoffs.
  • Coordinate with inspectors and AHJs, and ensure work meets code, safety, and quality standards.
  • Manage project closeout, including punch lists, as-builts, O&M manuals, warranties, and final billing.
  • Partner with field superintendents and foremen to resolve issues quickly and keep projects on track.
Qualifications
  • 3 years of project management experience on commercial and/or industrial electrical projects, with experience at an electrical contractor strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, NEC, and commercial construction means and methods.
  • Strong skills in budgeting, cost control, change order management, and contract administration.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical plans and specifications.
  • Experience with project management and accounting software, such as Procore, Sage Intacct, or similar. Bluebeam experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills and comfort working directly with general contractors and owners.
  • Healthcare, higher education, or other regulated environment experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits.
What We Offer
  • Base salary of $90K-$135K , depending on experience, plus bonus
  • PTO, retirement plan, and full benefits package
  • Stable, growing contractor with a diverse project mix across commercial, industrial, healthcare, and higher education
  • Hands-on, owner-led culture with real access to leadership and room to grow
