Role Overview
An established electrical contractor in New York City is looking to add an experienced Electrical Project Manager to its growing operations team.
The successful candidate will take ownership of electrical projects from initial handover through final closeout, with responsibility for commercial performance, scheduling, procurement, project documentation, and coordination between office and field teams.
The project portfolio covers a variety of sectors, including corporate interiors, commercial construction, mission-critical facilities, infrastructure improvements, and complex electrical upgrades.
This position would suit a strong Electrical Project Manager who understands the demands of the New York construction market and is comfortable leading projects while maintaining strong relationships with clients, general contractors, and project teams.
Your main duties will include:
- Taking ownership of electrical projects from initial award through construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Controlling project budgets, schedules, costs, change orders, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
- Handling RFIs, submittals, contracts, drawings, specifications, and other key project documentation.
- Building strong working relationships with clients, general contractors, engineers, vendors, and project stakeholders.
- Planning material and equipment requirements to support construction schedules and key project milestones.
- Partnering closely with Superintendents, Foremen, and field teams to maintain progress and resolve project challenges.
- Tracking project performance and addressing schedule, cost, procurement, or coordination issues as they arise.
- Developing change-order pricing, cost projections, and regular project forecasts.
- Leading project meetings and providing clear updates on progress, commercial matters, and upcoming requirements.
- Driving the closeout process, including punch-list completion, testing, commissioning, and final documentation.
To be successful, you will possess:
- 5+ years of experience within electrical construction, including hands-on project management responsibility.
- Strong understanding of commercial electrical installations, including power distribution, lighting, controls, switchgear, feeders, and related systems.
- Demonstrated experience taking electrical projects from award through successful completion.
- Solid commercial knowledge, including budgeting, forecasting, procurement, scheduling, and change-order management.
- Confidence reading and working from electrical drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, and construction documents.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple project priorities.
- Previous experience delivering commercial electrical projects in the New York City market is preferred.
